ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- One week after starting the 2013-14 season with a sweep at UMBC, the Navy swimming and diving teams will play host to a meet in Lejeune Hall for the first time this season Friday at 3 p.m. Both the men's and women's programs will play host to Virginia, with the Navy women's team also taking on Yale on the afternoon.

"We are thrilled to play host to two teams of this caliber," said Navy women's swimming head coach John Morrison. "Virginia has been at the top of the ACC for many years and has the talent to be a top-10 team in the country, while Yale is quickly moving back to the top of Ivy League and being an NCAA top-20 team with many great athletes of its own. They both have strong new staffs leading them through this season. We are looking forward to the challenge to compete at this level in our first home dual meet of 2013-14."

"Virginia is an excellent program, one that we look forward to competing with each year," said Navy men's swimming head coach Bill Roberts. "Given their consistent level of success at the ACC and NCAA levels, we know we have to be very good on Friday to be competitive."

Navy opened its 2013-14 season Friday with a 154.5-145.5 win over the Retrievers by the men's team and a 163-137 victory in the women's meet between the teams.

The Mids emerged victorious against the Retrievers despite the women's team winning half of the 16 contested events and the men winning just seven events. Posting multiple wins on the day for Navy were Lauren Baguley (Sr., Hudsonville, Mich.) in the both backstroke races, Rachael Dudley (So., Hoschton, Ga.), who swept the butterfly events, Tom Duvall (So., Durham, N.H.), the winner of the 500 free and 1000 free races, and Jonathan DeBaugh (So., Conroe, Texas), who picked up wins in the two fly events.

Virginia recorded wins over both Navy programs when the teams met last season in Charlottesville, Va. The Cavaliers won a 162-124 decision in the men's meet and by the score of 168-118 in the women's competition.

Virginia's women's team went on to place 18th and its men's team 27th at the respective 2013 NCAA Championship meets. Both Cavalier squads also won their sixth-straight Atlantic Coast Conference title last season.

The Navy women's team posted a 161-139 win over Yale in the last meeting between the teams, which took place in January, 2011, in Annapolis.

Yale placed fourth at the 2013 Ivy league Championship and 34th at the ensuing NCAA Championship.

Both Virginia and Yale will be opening their respective 2013-14 seasons on Friday.
