ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Thomas Pecor (Fr., Houston, Texas) had a hand in winning a pair of matches for the Navy men's tennis team Sunday afternoon in the final match of the Navy National All-Conference Invitational that was held on the USNA Tennis Courts. The Mids faced Princeton Sunday after having previously played Indiana and the combined team of Arkansas and Penn State during the three-day event.

Pecor's day began by him teaming with Austin Jones (So., Dallas, Texas) for an 8-7 win over Dan Davies and Zack McCourt at No. 1 doubles. The match was decided in a tiebreaker, with the Mids winning the breaker by the score of 7-5.

The Navy tandem would post a 2-1 record this weekend to win the No. 1 doubles flight at the invite.

Pecor then recorded a 7-5, 6-1 victory over McCourt at No. 1 singles. The win was the second in as many days for Pecor at the flight. His two wins tied him with Jones for the best singles record on the team during the weekend. Jones suffered his lone singles loss of the invite today as he dropped a 6-2, 6-3 decision to No. 2 singles flight champion Thomas Colautti.

"I'm proud of Thomas," said Navy head coach John Officer. "He plays with a tremendous amount of energy, a tremendous amount of confidence. He just took it to his opponent today. He (McCourt) is a good player, but Thomas just overpowered him."

In addition to the Jones and Pecor tandem, Navy also put together strong matches in two of the other doubles flights today. Navy's No. 4 team of Jake Darrah (Fr., Cartersville, Ga.) and Krishna Jana (Fr., Seabrook, Texas) lost in a tiebreaker -- 10-8 in the breaker -- to the duo of Mohamed El Tonbari and Ben Quazzo. Also, Princeton's No. 3 team of Colautti and Alexander Day edged its way past Navy's pairing of Alex Gaines (So., Wilmington, N.C.) and Tyler Tossavainen (Fr., Fleming Island, Fla.) by the score of 8-5.

"Our doubles were really good today," said Officer. "It was a real battle. We had a match point opportunity at No. 4, we played well and battled at No. 3 and we played well and won again at No. 1. We had good energy in the doubles with real good team spirit."

Princeton ended the 2013 season ranked 51st nationally, Indiana was ranked 56th last spring and Arkansas was ranked as the No. 59 team in the country.

"I kind of threw our guys to the wolves this weekend," said Officer, of the challenging field that was invited to the event. "I wanted to see how they handled the adversity. We give our guys opportunities to play really good players to test themselves and see what we need to do to get better."

Navy will close its fall slate of individual tournaments when the Mids compete in the ITA Atlantic Region Championship Oct. 17-22 in Blacksburg, Va.
