CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -- Navy's Calvin Mark (Fr., Union City, Calif.) has been selected as the Patriot League Men's Tennis Player of the Month for March. The announcement was made Wednesday by the league office.
Mark, who previously was tabbed as the league's player of the month for February, posted a combined singles and doubles record of 16-3 in March. This included records of 4-0 in both singles and doubles against league foes.
Mark compiled an overall record of 8-2 in singles in the month, with his lone two defeats coming in three-set matches. He was 2-2 in three-set matches in all. Mark finished the month with a 7-1 record in matches played at the No. 2 singles flight and a 1-1 record when he played at No. 3 singles.
In doubles, Mark and Peter McDonald (Fr., Chapel Hill, N.C.) ended the month with an 8-1 record. All of the matches for the duo were contested at No. 1 doubles.
Mark leads Navy this spring with an 18-3 record in singles and shares the team lead for the most doubles victories with McDonald. The Mark-McDonald team has posted a 20-1 record during the 2012 dual meet season.
Navy, 4-0 against Patriot League opponents and 15-7 for the entire spring, will next play host to Army on April 14.
