Navy Tennis Holds Team Banquet
Links associated with this release: Team captain Ben Salomon walked away with team most valuable player honors at the 2001 Navy tennis banquet, held Sunday night in Hubbard Hall. Salomon (Sr., Rochester Hills, Mich.), who was named All-Patriot League in singles this season, also received the Best Record award after leading Navy with 26 victories. Fellow senior Mark Wadsworth (Sr., Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) was voted Most Inspirational Player in voting by the team. Other team honorees on the night included Heath Marshall (So., Palm Coast, Fla.) with the Ironman Award, Chris McGrath (So., Media, Pa.) with the 110-percent Award, Cameron Lickle (So., Weston, Mass.) with the Most Improved Player award, and Ryan Osgood (Fr., Leawood, Kan.) as the Rookie of the Year. Navy entered the 2000-01 season with no returning starters from a team that advanced to the championship match of the 2000 Patriot League Tournament. Despite that inexperience, the Midshipmen returned to the league's title tilt for the seventh-straight season and posted an 18-11 record on the season. In addition to Salomon's accolade from the league, Lickle also was selected all-league in singles and teamed with McGrath to garner all-league honors in doubles.
