Tossavainen Earns ITA Academic Award

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Navy rising sophomore Tyler Tossavainen (Fleming Island, Fla.) has been recognized as an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athlete for the 2013-14 academic year.
To garner the accolade from the ITA, tennis players must have earned a varsity letter, attained a grade-point average of at least 3.50 for the full academic year and have been enrolled at their current school for a minimum of two semesters.
Tossavainen, who will begin coursework as a computer science major this fall, posted a 3.80 grade-point average in the classroom during his initial year on The Yard. He was named to both the Superintendent's and Commandant's List in each of his two terms and earned placement onto the 2014 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll for his sport.
On the tennis court, Tossavainen compiled overall records of 14-16 in singles and 8-10 in doubles for the Mids this season.
