• A 2010 graduate of Decatur high school, where he earned four letters in football and three letters in lacrosse
• Earned all-state first-team honors in lacrosse at Decatur and was a team captain as a senior
• A two-time George All-Star Lacrosse Classic defender
• Team MVP of lacrosse in 2010
• Attended the Naval Academy Preparatory School in Newport, Rhode Island during the 2010-11 academic year and competed on the lacrosse team
