LEWISBURG, Pa. - Down just eight points after Day 2, Navy stormed back on the final day to win the 2014 Patriot League Indoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday at Gerhard Field House. The Mids collected their sixth title in 11 years.

"We had a great all-around effort from top to bottom today," said head coach Stephen Cooksey. "There were some key performances in the 200m, pole vault, shot put and distance medley relay at the end of the meet that helped get us the win."

Navy head coach Stephen Cooksey was named the Patriot League Indoor Male Coach of the Year for the sixth time in his career. Overall, the Mids recorded individual event champions in the 200m dash, pole vault, shot put and distance medley relay.

Navy began the final day with second-place finishes in the mile and 400m. Sean Rynning (Sr., Longwood, Fla.) finished second in the mile with a time of 4:11.97 (IC4A) and Austin Batiste (So., Long Beach, Calif.) placed second in the 400m (48.71).

Jordan Sartor-Francis (So., Jonesboro, Ga.) recorded strong performances in both the 60m and 200m dash. Sartor-Francis captured the individual title in 200m with a meet-record time of 21.68. The sophomore sprinter also placed second in the 60m dash (6.85) to record 18 team points in two events. His second-place finish in the 60m garnered All-Patriot League Second Team honors

Zack Duncavage tallied a career-best performance in the shot put with a mark of 54ft-6.00in (16.61m). Duncavage's mark secured the individual title and was 7.75 inches better than his previous best mark set earlier this season in a five-team meet.

Navy tallied its highest team points in a single event (31) at the pole vault with five Mids finishing in the top six. Jiles Maness (So., Winston Salem, N.C.)  won the individual title with a first-place mark of 17ft-2.75in (5.25m). Teammates Mark Vetere (16ft-8.75in), Michael Brunoforte (16ft-2.75in), Matthew Deisher (15ft-9in) and Ryan Kochert (15ft-3in) finished second, third, fourth and sixth, respectively.

The Mids distance medley relay team was the fourth and final event that Navy captured an event title. Roberto Swersky, Max Dunn, Nick Palermo and Sean Rynning recorded a season-best time and an IC4A-qualifying mark of 10:05.37.

Nick Palermo and Stephen Schroeder earned all-league second team honors, finishing second in the 1000m and 3000m. Schroeder also placed fourth in the mile with an IC4A-qualifying time of 4:14.35

Navy will next send its qualified athletes to Boston for the IC4A Indoor Championship from March 7-9. The Mids have qualified athletes in 17 of the 20 events.
