Navy Men's Outdoor Track Wins 10 Events at Ingram Field on Saturday

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy men's outdoor track and field team (4-0) picked up four dual wins on Saturday at Ingram Field in the team's only home meet of the season. Navy amassed 240 team points to place ahead of Maryland-Eastern Shore (150), Colgate (67), American (34) and Maryland (4).
Navy put on a dominating display, winning 10 events and posting eight IC4A-qualifying performances. The Navy throwers were especially impressive, winning three of four throwing events and hitting five IC4A marks.
Junior Miles Snelgrove won the javelin with a mark of 203-6 (62.03m) and Ricks was second in the event with a 200-4 (61.06m). Both throwers went over the IC4A standard.
Sophomore Zach Duncavage won the discus with yet another IC4A mark with his effort of 158-3 (48.24m). Senior Chris Boniwell was second in both the discus (148-10, 45.36m) and the shot put (49-8¼, 15.14m).
Freshman Mark Vetere, the 2012 Patriot League Indoor Pole Vault champion, won the event on Saturday with an IC4A-qualifying effort of 15-9 (4.80m).
Brandon Carter claimed first place in the triple jump with a distance of 43-5¾ (13.25m).
On the track, senior Cody Rome marked his outdoor debut with a first-place showing in the 5,000m run of 14:25.58, which is 11 seconds under the IC4A-qualifying time. Chris Burns was second at 14:42.63 and Kyle Satterwhite was the third runner to cross the finish line (14:46.53).
Senior Lucas Connelly won the 800m run (1:51.96) and sophomore Weston Kennedy took first in the 1,500m (3:52.50). Both times were very close to the IC4A cutoff. Senior Matt Evers placed third in the 800m at 1:52.55.
Navy's 4x400m relay team of Evers, Cadiente, Joshua Kingsland and Connelly won with a time of 3:22.76.
Saturday's meet marked the final home track and field meet for Navy's Class of 2012.
Navy will next compete at Maryland's Terrapin Invitational on Saturday.
