BETHLEHAM, Pa. - The Navy men's track and field team won six events and was the runner-up in five while placing third as a team at the 2013 Patriot League Outdoor Championship at Lehigh's Goodman Campus.

Bucknell won both the men's and women's team titles this weekend. On the men's side Bucknell totaled 184 points, Army was second at 170 and Navy was third at 159.

"We got ourselves behind with some of the events on Friday but the guys did respond and put forth some good efforts today," head coach Stephen Cooksey said. "We made a good turnaround and the difference between the first day and today was incredible, but we just had a few too many mishaps that kept us out of it."

Freshman Jay Stell was named the Patriot League Men's Championship Rookie of the Meet after winning the javelin on Friday with a mark of 216-6 (65.98m). Stell is ranked 19th in the javelin on the NCAA's East Region performance list.

"Jay has been consistent all season long for us," said Cooksey. "There is a lot of pressure for your first time out there and he had a big toss yesterday. He has done a great job this season and it was nice to see him win that award."

Junior Zack Duncavage broke his own school record and established a new Patriot League Championship meet record in winning the discus at 192-8 (58.74m). Junior Kyle Fortney was fifth at 167-7 (51.09m). Both were over the IC4A standard.

Duncavage broke his own previous school record of 185-2 (56.44m), which he set at the Army-Navy Outdoor Star Meet in April. Duncavage is now ranked No. 7 in the discus in the NCAA's East Region and No. 15 in the NCAA overall. He earned All-America honors in the discus in 2012 by placing 16th at the NCAA Championship.

Junior Weston Kennedy won the 1,500m run at 3:53.34 and junior Sean Rynning was second at 3:53.48. Senior Kyle Satterwhite was fourth (3:54.80) as Navy took 22 points in the event. Kennedy also won the mile and the 1,000m at the league's indoor championship in February. Navy has won the 1,500m run at four-straight outdoor conference championships.

Navy won the 4x100m relay with a season-best time of 41.22 (IC4A). The 4x100m relay team consisted of sophomore Rico Goldstone, freshman Austin Batiste, junior Brett Bogaard and senior Mitch Simmonds.

Batiste was the runner-up in the 400m dash at 47.57. The time was his best of the season and under the IC4A-qualifying standard.

Bogaard placed third in the 200m dash at 21.49 and Batiste was fifth at 21.78 as each posted new personal-best times. Both were also under the IC4A-qualifying standard for the first time during the outdoor season. Bogaard also scored in the 100m dash by placing sixth at 11.05.

Sophomore Joshua Kingsland was the runner-up in the 800m run with a personal-best time of 1:51.19 (IC4A).

Senior Chris Fowler was the runner-up in the decathlon with 6290 points. On Saturday Fowler ran a 16.04 in the 110m hurdles, made a discus mark of 126-1 (38.44m) and cleared 12-7¼ (3.84m) in the pole vault, the best mark of the field. He also threw the javelin 145-1 (44.22m) and clocked a 4:56.82 in the 1,500m run.

Senior Rand Montermini placed third in the high jump at 6-6¼ (1.99m) and freshman Jeremy Granderson cleared the same height to place fourth. Simmonds placed third in the 400m hurdles at 54.19 and was fourth in the 110m hurdles at 14.76 (IC4A).

Senior Christopher Galvin placed fourth in the 5,000m run at 14:32.46 (IC4A). Galvin won the 10,000m run on Friday and set a new meet record with a time of 29:57.26.
