EASTON, Pa. -- The Navy men's and women's track and field team posted a clean sweep, claiming the 2018 Patriot League Outdoor Championship titles at Lafayette's Metzgar Fields Athletic Complex in Easton, Pa. The men's team recorded a conference-best 281 points as a team to earn its fifth consecutive outdoor title, while the women's team amassed 178.5 points to win the championship for the first time since 2012.

"It was really exciting," Director of Navy Track and Field Jamie Cook said after the meet. "That is why the student-athletes train all year round. There were a lot of things we asked for the team to do - multiple events, different events - and they were able to do it. It was great to see everyone doing things so selflessly to help the team win. Everyone performed like we needed them today and winning both meets were huge. I am so proud of our team and our coaches. They all stepped up and did what they needed to do to earn this victory. We did a lot of good things and I am proud of the team and the staff. I am happy with how we represented the Naval Academy."

Cook was named the Patriot League Men's Coach of the Year, while Carla Criste was named Women's Coach of the Year. Plebe Clayton Thompson (Corpus Christi, Texas) was awarded Rookie of the Meet. The freshman helped the Navy men's team score a Patriot League record 281 points, tallying 23 points by himself.

The Midshipmen's women's team had 41 athletes record top-10 finishes in the meet, while the men's team tallied 53 top-10 finishes during the competition. Navy had a total of 37 student-athletes (15 women / 22 men) earn All-Patriot League honors.

In addition to the all-conference performances, the Navy women's team posted 13 times / marks that ranked in the Midshipmen's all-time top-10, while the men's team registered six program top-10 records on the weekend.
