Men's Track and Field Ends Day 1 at PL Meet in First Place
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Navy men's track and field team tallied 67 total points as a team to finish the day in first place at the 2017 Patriot League Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday at Lehigh University's Goodman Campus in Bethlehem, Pa.
Despite heavy rainstorms in the mid-Atlantic region, all 12 of Friday's scheduled finals were completed, with just the men's and women's high jump and pole vault being moved indoors.
The Mids finished the day with 67 points, 20 points ahead of second-place Bucknell (47). Army West Point finished the day third with 38 points, with host Lehigh with 25 and Boston University with 21. Lafayette (19), American (12) and Holy Cross (5) round out the eight-team field.
Navy won three events on the day, taking first place in the javelin, pole vault, and 10,000-meter run.
Navy's Sean Richards won the javelin with a toss of 61.79m (202-09.00), while Jon Drablos won the men's pole vault competition, clearing a height of 5.05m (16-06.75). Lucas Stalnaker won the men's 10,000m run by more than 11 seconds, finishing in a time of 30:19.93.
Joining Drablos on the podium was Stefano Pineda whose pole vault mark of 4.85m (15-11.00) was good enough for third place in the event,
John Campbell took home second place in the discus, throwing for a distance of 55.59 (182-04.75), while Sean Brennan (51.55m / 169-01.75) and Michael Milcarek (50.25m / 164-10.50) were just off the podium, finishing fourth and sixth, respectively.
Devin Enslen was the top finisher in the 100m dash, clocking a time of 10.83 in the prelims to advance to the finals. Enslen was also Navy's top finisher in the 200m dash with a time of 21.52 to move to Saturday's finals.
Competition continues on Saturday, May 6 at the Goodman Campus at Lehigh for the conclusion of the 2017 Patriot League Outdoor Championship.
