BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- For the second consecutive year, the Navy men's track and field team posted a program-best in total team points to claim its fourth-straight Patriot League Outdoor Championship title on Saturday at Lehigh University's Goodman Campus.

The Midshipmen bested their record-setting performance from the 2016 by one point to record a team score of 264. Army finished in second place with 174 points, while Boston (147), Bucknell (116), and Lehigh (83.5) rounded out the top five.

"We finished out with 264 points to Army's 174," head coach Stephen Cooksey said. "Overall, we had a great team effort. We got the overall record for most points scored, beating the record we set last year by a point. We slipped in a couple of events and we were worried that we were going to get caught, but we were able to make some headway in some other events we weren't expecting to. Cameron Hurd ended up getting Rookie of the Meet, which was great for him and the team

Navy returns to action next weekend as the Midshipmen head to Princeton, N.J. for the IC4A Championships.

"Beating Army and winning the Patriot League are what we stress here," Cooksey stated. "I think everyone is going to be more relaxed, getting this out of the way. I think they will be relaxed and be able to perform well."
