JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Navy men's track and field team wrapped up the third and final day at the NCAA East Region Preliminaries Saturday in Jacksonville, Fla. at Hodges Stadium. Sophomore Jay Stell (Carlsbad, N.M.) was the lone Mid to advance to the 2014 NCAA Championship, which will take place on June 11-14 in Eugene, Ore.

"We had a strong first two days here in Jacksonville, unfortunately we came up short on the final day," Navy head coach Stephen Cooksey said. "I am very proud of the season we had and the athletes that competed here in the preliminaries. I am excited to see how Jay (Stell) will do in the coming weeks at the NCAA Championship."

Zack Duncavage (Sr., League City, Texas) competed in his fourth and final NCAA preliminaries in the discus. Duncavaged placed 25th with a throw of 176-2 (53.72m). This is just the second time in the senior's four-year career at the Naval Academy not to advance to the NCAA Championship.

Sophomore Jordan Sartor-Francis (Jonesboro, Ga.) finished tied-for 20th in the 200m dash with a mark of 21.37. Sartor-Francis earned a spot into Saturday's quarterfinals third heat with the 22nd fastest mark (21.10) Friday night.

Junior Jiles Maness (Winston Salem, N.C.) competed in the first heat of the pole vault, clearing the bar at 16-5.5 (5.02m) to place tied-for 31st. Sophomore Steve Schroeder (Monticello, Ill.) ran in the second heat of the 5000m, crossing the tape in 15:02.06 for 40th of 48.
