Men's Track & Field Prepares for Dual Meet Against Princeton
Jan. 3, 2014
ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy men's track and field program will resume its 2013-14 indoor season on Sunday versus Princeton. Navy and Princeton will meet in their annual dual meet at 11:00 AM at the Wesley A. Brown Field House in Annapolis.
The weight throw will begin at 11:00 AM and the first running event will be the 5,000m run at 12:00 PM. Three individuals can be entered per team for each event and scoring will be 5-3-2-1 (Relays: 5-3).
Navy defeated Princeton, 91-89, at Jadwin Gymnasium in Princeton last year to tie the series 21-21 in the all-time series. Sunday's dual will be the 43rd meeting in the past 56 years between the two schools. The Mids victory last season was the first win against the Tigers in the last 10 meetings
Mids captured eight events and posted four IC4A-qualifying performances against Princeton. Both Mark Vetere and Joshua Drablos surpassed the IC4A-qualifying height in the pole vault. Weston Kennedy won the mile run with an IC4A-qualifying time of 4:13.82. All three Mids return to help Navy build from last seasons dual meet win.
Sunday's dual will be the second competition for Navy this season. The Mids hosted the non-team scored Navy Invitational on December 6, winning ten events and posting nine IC4A Championship qualifying performances.
Navy will be competing at Wesley A. Brown Field House for each of the next four Saturdays, following the dual meet against Princeton on Sunday. Navy will host American, Hampton, UMES and Mount St. Mary's next weekend in Wesley Brown.
