Men's Track to Host Delaware State and Temple on Saturday

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy men's track and field program (5-0) will host Delaware State and Temple on Saturday at the Wesley A. Brown Field House. The weight throw will begin at 11:00 AM and the first running event will be the prelims of the 60m hurdles at 12 noon.

Navy topped a five-team field last Saturday, accumulating 279 team points. VCU was second with 145 points, followed by Maryland-Eastern Shore (36), Mount St. Mary's (34) and American (12). The Mids won 13 events, including 10 running events and posted 11 IC4A Championship qualifying efforts.

Sophomore Mark Vetere won the pole vault with an indoor season best of 16-4¾ (5.00m) to be named the Patriot League Field Athlete of the Week and freshman Austin Batiste won the 200m (21.91) and the 400m (48.99) to earn Patriot League Rookie of the Week accolades.

Both Vetere and Batiste hit IC4A-qualifying marks in their events and Navy has qualified athletes in 13 events this season.

Navy currently leads the Patriot League performance list in 10 events, including Vetere in the pole vault and Batiste in the 200m and the 400m.

Other top-ranked athletes are Jeremy Cadiente in the 500m (1:04.46), Weston Kennedy in the mile (4:10.62), Christopher Galvin in both the 3,000m (8:22.62) and the 5,000m (14:30.90) and Rand Montermini in the high jump (6-8¼). Navy is also ranked No. 1 in the 4x400m relay (3:17.58) and the distance medley relay (10:13.71).

Galvin is Navy's highest ranked athlete on the national performance lists, coming in at No. 11 in the 5,000m.

Navy will next host the Wesley A. Brown Invitational on Saturday, January 26. Scheduled participants for the Wesley A. Brown Invitational include Navy, The Citadel, Maryland, Princeton and William & Mary.

Entry limits: Three (3) Individual entries per team/event, One (1) Relay entry per team/event, Dual Scored Meet, Individual Events: 5-3-2-1, Relay Events: 5-3, Field event competitors will advance to the finals, provided they have a legal mark in the preliminaries.

Parking Information/Shuttles
All fans without a Department of Defense sticker on their vehicle must park outside of the U.S. Naval Academy grounds. Fans may park at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium for $5. Free shuttle buses will run every 10 minutes between Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium and the Wesley A. Brown Field House. The shuttle buses will start running at 10:00 am on Saturday and will continue to 3:00 pm. Shuttle schedule and pick up location are subject to change.
