ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Continuing its five-meet homestand, the Navy men’s track & field team welcomes three schools to the Wesley A. Brown Invitational on Saturday. The Mids welcome Maryland-Eastern Shore, The Citadel and City College of New York.

The meet is scheduled to begin with the weight throw at 11 a.m. and continue with the shot put shortly after. The track events will begin at noon with the 5000-meter run.

Navy took care of business last Saturday, finishing first in the five-team meet at the Wesley A. Brown Field House.  Mids placed first in 12 of the 17 total scored events, six on the track and six in the field.

Navy put on a strong performance in the field, winning all six scored events on the day. Senior Randon McKain (Sutherland, Neb.) led the Mids with two first-place finishes, one in the triple jump (13.69m/44-11.0 ft) and one in the long jump (6.73m/22-1.0 ft). Senior captain Zack Duncavage (League City, Texas) put on his best performance of his career in the shot put, throwing an IC4A-qualifying mark, first-place mark and personal-best 16.41-meters/53-10.25 ft (previous best was 16.19m).

Duncavage’s efforts in both the weight throw and shot put garnered his second career Patriot League Weekly honors as the field athlete of the week.

On the track, Navy saw three different athletes record first-place finishes for the first time in the 2013-14 season. Sophomores Justin Maguire (Brewster, N.Y) in the 3000-meter run (8.26.21), Nathan Haynes (Liberty Township, Ohio) in the 800m run (1:57.03) and freshman Alec Richardson in the mile run (4:22.42).

Following the invitational, Navy will begin to prepare for the annual star meet against Army on Saturday, Feb. 1 at the Wesley A. Brown Field House. The meet is slated to begin at 11 a.m.
