CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Senior Kyle Satterwhite and freshman Jiles Maness have earned Patriot League Track and Field weekly honors, the conference office announced Monday. Satterwhite was named the M-F Athletic Track Athlete of the Week and Maness is the M-F Athletic Rookie of the Week.
Satterwhite placed second in the 3,000m run at the Wesley Brown Invitational last weekend with a personal-best time of 8:10.59. The time is well under the IC4A-qualifying standard, the top time in the Patriot League this season and the 38th-best mark in the nation.
Satterwhite also ranks No. 4 in the Patriot League in the mile run with a time of 4:12.67.
This is Satterwhite's first career Patriot League track and field weekly accolade.
Maness won the pole vault at the Wesley Brown Invitational with a personal-best height of 16-8¾ (5.10m). Maness remains at No. 1 on the Patriot League performance list in the pole vault and he ranks No. 43 in the nation.
Maness' height is also the fifth-best indoor pole vault height in Naval Academy history.
This is the fourth time Maness has surpassed the IC4A-qualifying height in the pole vault and he picks up his third event victory of the season.
Maness earns the top rookie honor for the second time this season (Dec. 3) and Navy has now won the honor in five of the six possible weeks this season. Steve Schroeder won on Jan. 21, Austin Batiste won on Jan. 14 and Jeremy Granderson won on Jan. 7.
Navy will compete at Army in the annual Indoor Star Meet on Sunday at 3:30 PM.
