Jan. 28, 2014
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Navy men's track & field squad took home two of the three Patriot League Weekly awards, which were announced by the conference on Tuesday. Senior captain Zack Duncavage (League City, Texas) and freshman Khaalif Wolfe (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) were named Patriot League M-F Field Athlete and Rookie of the Week, respectively.
Duncavage set IC4A standards in both the shot put and weight throw for the second week in a row. He placed second in each event at the Wesley A. Brown Invitational at Navy on Saturday, recording a mark of 18.42 meters in the weight throw and 16.28 in the shot put. Of Navy's 22 IC4A qualifers in the event, Duncavage was the only Mid to earn marks in two events. He tied teammate Derrick Petett with back-to-back field athlete of the week honors this season, as Petett accomplished the feat in the first two weeks of the month.
Wolfe earned his second career Patriot League Rookie of the Week laurel after he placed first in the triple jump at the Wesley A. Brown Invitational. The freshman jumped a personal-best 14.27 meters this past Saturday, which was .13 meters better than his previous best.
Navy will look to extend its lead in the all-time series against Army (27-25-2) on Saturday at the Wesley A. Brown Field House in the annual star meet. The meet is slated to start at 11 a.m.
