CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -
Junior Zack Duncavage (League City, Texas) and freshman Austin Batiste (Long Beach, Calif.) have earned Patriot League M-F Athletic Track and Field weekly accolades, the conference office announced Monday. Duncavage is the field athlete of the week and Batiste is the rookie of the week.
Duncavage and Batiste both posted IC4A-qualifying performances for the Navy men's indoor track and field team at the Spire Invitational on Saturday.
Duncavage placed 12th in the weight throw at the Spire Invitational with an IC4A-qualifying mark of 60-9¼ (18.52m). Duncavage also recorded a team-best shot put mark of 47-6¼ (14.48m).
Duncavage will enter this weekend's Patriot League Indoor Championship ranked second in the league in the weight throw and sixth in the shot put.
Duncavage earns his first indoor track and field honor and his fourth overall including the outdoor season. Duncavage earned All-America honors in the discus during the 2012 outdoor season.
Batiste placed 12th in the Elite section of the 200m at the Spire Invitational with an IC4A time of 21.99. Batiste has been under the IC4A standard in all five of his 200m races this season.
Batiste is ranked No. 1 in the conference in the 400m and is No. 3 in the 200m.
Batiste earns his second weekly honor in as many weeks and ties the indoor league record for most rookie of the week awards in one season with three.
Navy's 12 weekly accolades this indoor season ties the conference record established by Bucknell in 2011-12.
The 2013 Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championship will run from Friday to Sunday at Gillis Field House in West Point, N.Y.
