Men's Track & Field Travels to Spire Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy men’s track & field squad head to Geneva, Ohio for the Spire Division I Invitational on Saturday. The meet will be held at the Spire Institute's indoor eight-lane oversized 300-meter flat track. Live results will be available. The field events begin at 10 a.m. with the high jump and the track events begin at 10:30 a.m. with the mile run.
Navy (10-0) is coming off a 100-81 victory over Army on Feb. 1 at the Wesley A. Brown Field House in Annapolis in the annual Indoor Star Meet. The Mids won 10 events total and six of the six field events and in the process extended its series lead against Army to 28-25-2.
The Mids were well honored by the Patriot League after the Army-Navy meet. Sophomore Jordan Sartor-Francis was named the league's track athlete of the week and junior Mark Vetere was named the field athlete of the week. Vetere was also named as the NAAA Athlete of the Week for his Star Meet performance.
For the third straight week, Navy is in the top-5 of the USTFCCCA Mid-Atlantic Region Rankings, coming in at No. 4.
The Mids will compete in the 2014 Patriot League Indoor Championships at Lewisburg, Pa. next weekend. Navy won last year's indoor championship by 22.5 points. Navy was selected as the favorites for this year's indoor season.
