Trio of Track and Field Athletes Named PL All-Academic
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - The Patriot League announced its All-Academic team and three members of the Navy men's track and field program - Josh Hanna (Winfield, Kan.), Demetrius Lanier (Palm Coast, Fla.), and Stefano Pineda (Hockessin, Del.) - were selected to the 10-person list.
Hanna boasts a 3.91 grade point average in nuclear engineering and is making his second consecutive appearance on the list. The senior earned First Team All-Patriot League accolades at the 2018 Indoor Championship earlier this month, winning the 1,000-meter run and as a member of the 4x800m relay team. All total, Hanna is a four-time All-Patriot League performer and a two-time PL All-Academic selection.
Lanier, a naval architecture and marine engineering major with a 3.61 GPA, earned First Team All-Patriot League in the 200m dash. It was the second time he has earned All-Conference honors, earning second-team honors in the 4x100m relay during the outdoor season in 2017.
Pineda boasts a 4.00 GPA in mechanical engineering and earned Academic All-Patriot League last year during the outdoor season. The pole vaulter took second place at the Patriot League Indoor Championship with a jump of 5.00m (16-04.75) to earn All-Conference distinction.
Navy track and field returns to action this weekend as the Midshipmen travel to Boston to take part in the 2018 IC4A Indoor Championship.
