CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Navy men’s indoor track & field senior Brett Bogaard and junior Matthew Deisher were named to the 2014 Patriot League Indoor Track All-Academic Team, announced by the league office Friday.
Bogaard's selection to the Patriot League All-Academic Team is the second league honor of his career. The senior sprinter carries a 3.95 GPA as a quantitative economics major. He has posted a 4.0 GPA in each of his last five semesters and is ranked No. 39 in his class in Academic Order of Merit.
Bogaard placed fifth in the 400m dash at the Patriot League Indoor Championship, sixth in the 200m dash and helped the 4x400m relay team (3rd leg) finish third. Bogaard has qualified for the 200m dash, 400m dash and as a leg for the 4x400m relay squad for next weekend's IC4A Indoor Championship in Boston. Bogaard clocked a career-best time of 21.95 in the 200m at the Wesley A. Brown Field House Invitational.
Deisher finished fourth in the Patriot League Indoor Championship with mark of 15-9 (4.8m) in the pole vault. His mark in the league championship was his highest qualifying mark this season for the IC4A Indoor Championship. This is Deisher’s first selection to the Patriot League All-Academic Team with a 3.67 GPA in ocean engineering.
The IC4A Indoor Championship will run from March 7-9 at Boston University's Track and Tennis Center. All three of Navy's all-academic honorees are scheduled to compete at the postseason regional meet.
