Men's Track Picked as Patriot League Favorites

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - The Navy men's track and field team has been selected to win the 2014 Patriot League Outdoor Championship, according to the conference's preseason poll, which was announced Tuesday. The preseason poll is voted on by the league's head coaches and sports information directors.
Navy received 14 first-place votes to top the poll with 126 points. Bucknell was a close second with 114 points with four first-place votes. Army was third (103) followed by Boston University (79), Lehigh (72), Lafayette (60), Holy Cross (37), American (28) and Colgate (28).
After being selected as favorites to win the indoor team title, Navy emerged victorious with 201.83 team points to win its sixth indoor title in the last 11 years.
The Mids tallied seven All-Patriot League First Team and seven All-Patriot League Second Team members. Head coach Stephen Cooksey was named Patriot League Coach of the Year to headline the meet for Navy.
Navy placed third at the 2013 Patriot League Outdoor Championship with 153 points. Bucknell won the team title with 184 points and Army was the runner-up with 170.
The 2014 Patriot League Outdoor Championship will be held from May 2-3 at Ingram Field in Annapolis. This is the second time in league history that Navy will host the outdoor championships. The Mids last hosted in 2008 and finished first.
