ANNAPOLIS, Md. - For just the second time in program history, Navy men's track and field team will host the Patriot League Outdoor Track and Field Championships this Friday and Saturday at Ingram Field. The Mids will look to complete the season sweep of league titles, having captured the indoor title in February.

Hosting the league outdoor championships may be a good sign for Navy, as the Mids won their only outdoor title in 2008 when they hosted. If Navy were to finish first this weekend, it would be just the second time in program history the Mids were to sweep both the indoor and outdoor league titles.

Navy has had a strong outdoor season, recording five performances that are tops in the Patriot League. Overall, the Mids own top performances amongst league athletes in nine different events for both indoor and outdoor season. Senior thrower Zack Duncavage (League City, Texas) holds two of the league's top performances this year in the shot put (54-6) and discus (191-2). Duncavage achieved his discus mark at the Penn Relays this past weekend.

Sophomore Jay Stell is steadily improving in javelin, having thrown a career best, Patriot League season-best and the nation's 13th farthest throw of 232-0 at the Army-Navy Outdoor Star Meet in the beginning of April.

Duncavage and Stell have been acknowledged for their outdoor success, splitting the last six Patriot League M-F Athletic Field Athlete of the Week honors.

Navy sprinters Jordan Sartor-Francis (Jonesboro, Ga.) and Austin Batiste (Long Beach, Calif.), both of whom are only sophomores, have ran very well on the track this season. Sartor-Francis holds the top time amongst Patriot Leaguers in the 100m (10.55) and 200m (21.05) dash. Batiste is the Patriot League's top sprinter, at the moment, in the 400m dash with a time of 46.90.

Five of Navy's pole vaulters, who finished in the top five spots in the league's indoor championship, currently hold the top five spots for performances amongst Patriot Leaguers. Sophomore Jiles Maness (Winston Salem, N.C.) ranks first among Patriot League athletes with a mark of 17-2.75.

Navy has been ranked in the top three of the USTFCCCA Mid-Atlantic Poll in all four weeks of the outdoor season. The Mids are currently ranked third and ahead of Patriot League foes Bucknell (11th) and Lehigh (12th). Army (9th) and Boston University (13th) are ranked in the top 15 of the Northeast Poll.

Following this weekend's league championship, Navy will have a week off before traveling to Princeton, N.J. for the 2014 IC4A Outdoor Track and Field Championships from May 16 to May 18.
