May 7, 2014
ANNAPOLIS, Md. - After leading the Navy men's track and field team to its first Patriot League outdoor championship title since 2008, senior thrower Zack Duncavage (League City, Texas) was named NAAA Athlete of the Week, presented by Rolls-Royce, for the week ending May 4.
Duncavage was named the Patriot League Outdoor Field Athlete of the Meet for the first time in his career. Duncavage had a strong second day, winning the shot put (54-5.50) and the discus (181-9). He finished third in the hammer throw with a personal-best mark of 189-5. All three performances qualified for the IC4A Championship.
Currently, Duncavage ranks 11th amongst NCAA East Regional athletes in the discus with a throw of 191-2. He sits 63rd in the hammer throw with a mark of 189-5. The NCAA East Regionals take the top 48 athletes in their respective events, which are held in Jacksonville, Florida.
Duncavage will look to improve on both his discus and hammer throw marks next weekend at the 2014 IC4A Outdoor Track and Field Championship in Princeton, New Jersey.
