NEW ORLEANS, La. - Sophomore thrower Zack Duncavage (League City, Texas) has formally been named to the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association's (USTFCCCA) All-America Second Team, it was announced Tuesday.

Duncavage placed 16th in the discus at the NCAA Division I Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championship in Des Moines, Iowa on June 6. Duncavage recorded a mark of 179-8 (54.78m).

Chad Wright of Nebraska won the national discus title with a mark ok 206 (62.79m). Florida won the men team's championship while LSU won on the women's side.

Now that the USTFCCCA has made its formal All-America announcement, Duncavage officially earns the Navy track and field program's 45th All-America certificate and the first since Paul Harris (800m - indoor) in 2007. The last Midshipman to earn All-America honors for outdoor track and field was John Mentzer (10,000m) in 1998.

First-team USTFCCCA All-America honors are awarded to those who earn any portion of a team point at the national championships, or reach an eight-entrant final. Second-team All-America honors are handed out to those whose final placing in the national meet range from ninth to 16th place.

Those who participated at the final site but did not place in the meet's top 16 are listed as honorable mention for the All-America award.
