Men's Indoor Track to Host Navy Invitational on Saturday

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy men's indoor track and field program will open the 2012-13 season by hosting the Navy Invitational on Saturday at the Wesley A. Brown Field House. Thirteen other schools will join Navy for the non-team scored meet. The first field event will be the weight throw at 11:00 am and the first running event will be the 5,000m at 12 noon.
Other invitees are: American, Bowie State, Coppin State, Delaware State, Georgetown, Hampton, Howard, Johns Hopkins, Lincoln, Maryland-Eastern Shore, Morgan State, Mount St. Mary's and William & Mary.
Navy won three individual events and two relays at the Navy Invitational last season. Navy won the 4x800m relay (7:53.45) and the distance medley relay (10:17.22) and three 2012 graduates combined to win the pole vault, weight throw and the 3,000m. Additionally, the Mids posted IC4A-qualifying times or marks in five different events.
In the field events, senior Rand Montermini was second in the high jump (6-6¼), junior Ryan Kochert was second in the pole vault at 15-3 and junior Zack Duncavage was third in the shot put (46-11½) and the weight throw (52-6).
Navy will take a month-long break following the Navy Invitational and will return to action on Sunday, January 6 for a dual meet at Princeton.

All fans without a Department of Defense sticker on their vehicle must park outside of the U.S. Naval Academy grounds. Fans may park at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium for $5. Free shuttle buses will run every 10 minutes between Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium and the Wesley A. Brown Field House.
