SOPHOMORE - 2013: Broke through during his sophomore campaign to post the second-highest point total on the team with 67 over 32 games played ... a CWPA Southern Division First Team honoree, Sutherland scored 51 goals and added 16 assists ... he took 104 shots and collected 15 steals ... a consistent threat, he tallied points (16g, 8a) in each of the first 11 games that he played ... only held pointless on two occasions in 2013 ... twice matched a career-high with five points (Diablo Valley College: 2g, 3a and Bucknell: 4g, 1a) ... in addition to the Bucknell regular season game, he also scored four goals versus Iona and Johns Hopkins ... had 18 multi-point games (12 with three or more points) ... in recognition of his performance in the CWPA Championship Tournament (5g) he was named to the CWPA All-Tournament Team.
FRESHMAN - 2012: Sutherland appeared in 23 games as a freshman, scoring 20 points (12 g, 8 a) ... was one of two Navy freshmen (Will Weggeland) to score at least 20 points in 2012 ... scored a career-high five points on a career-high four goals and an assist in a win over Connecticut College ... added three points (2 g, 1 a) in a win over Notre Dame (Ohio) in the Navy Open ... scored two points (1 g, 1 a) in his first career action, the season opener against Gannon ... also added a pair of assists against Penn State Behrend and the Redlands.
PERSONAL: A 2011 graduate of Billy Ryan High School, Sutherland lettered four times in both water polo and swimming ... spent the 2011-12 year at the Hill School (Pa.) ... was a two-time first-team all-state honoree and was a three-time second-team All-American ... was named the Regional MVP twice (2010, 2011) ... was also a first-team all-state swimming honoree in 2010 ... was a member of the Boy Scouts of America ... son of Brian and Kelly Sutherland ... was a teammate at the Hill School of classmate Richard Thomas ... majoring in quantitative economics.
