ANNAPOLIS, Md.-The Navy Aquatic Club A team went 2-0 on Saturday at the United States Men's National Championship at Lejeune Hall. In the morning session, the Mids defeated Young Athletes of America, 12-6, behind six goals by Joe Donahue and two by Michael Garcia. Kevin Permisohn, Sean Foster, Carl Sayler and Kevin Starry scored one goal apiece. In the afternoon game, the Mids got seven goals from Adrian Rawn and a strong outing in goal by Cody Acuna as the Mids routed Navy Aquatic Club B, 11-1.
Despite the two wins, head coach Mike Schofield was not pleased with Navy's effort.
"I was not pleased with the way we performed today," said Schofield. "We played much better yesterday. This is a chance for our guys to play together and get better and I felt like we wasted that opportunity today." Navy A will play for fifth place on Sunday at 11:10 a.m. against Newport. "If we come to play we can make it a game," said Schofield. The championship game will take place at 1:30 p.m. and will pit the two favorites, Olympic Club and New York Athletic Club A. "I would like to see a lot of fans come out tomorrow," said Schofield. "This will be a great opportunity to see some of our nation's finest water polo players.
