ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Navy water polo head coach Mike Schofield has announced that nine commitments hailing from five states are currently participating in plebe summer activities and have joined the Navy water polo program for the upcoming 2013 season.

"Coach (Mladen) Stanicic and I really like this group of players. There's a nice mix of size, speed, offensive and defensive ability that should bode well for our program. The plebes have been here for almost five weeks now, and are looking forward to starting our preseason training on August 14," said Schofield, who is entering his 29th year as the head coach of the Navy water polo program, owning 623 victories.

The Class of 2017 features three players from talent-rich California and Pennsylvania, a state that has seen water polo explode in recent years. The rest of the class features players from Maryland, Texas and Florida.

This year's class brings tremendous size as seven of the nine players stand at least 6-0 tall.
