ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The 12th-ranked Navy water polo team will travel to Princeton, N.J., as the Mids will play four Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) games during the weekend. Navy opens play Friday night with a 9:30 p.m., match against Gannon University.
Navy (10-3) will take on Mercyhurst College Saturday morning at 11:20 a.m., followed by an afternoon match (TBA) against either Slippery Rock or Johns Hopkins. Navy's opponent and game time Sunday are undetermined.
"We play four games in two and a half days and the games will get tougher as the weekend goes on," Navy head coach Mike Schofield said. "We are hoping to use some of our younger guys early and then go to our veterans later in the weekend. This weekend is all about putting yourself in position to get a good seed at the Southern Division Tournament (Nov. 2-4)."
Navy enters the weekend on a four-game winning streak, coming off wins on Oct. 6 over Air Force (8-5), Johns Hopkins (11-6) and George Washington (11-6). Goalie Nick Hill (Jr./Long Beach, Calif) was named the CWPA Southern Division Player of the Week after leading the Navy defense with 24 blocks in the Mids' three victories.
"Nick is doing as good a job as ever individually, blocking shots," Schofield said. "He is running the team and using the people in front of him better as the season progresses."
