Navy Wrestling Seeks Star in Annual Army-Navy Dual

The Midshipmen have won each of the last 11 duals against Army.

• Haislip in 2010-11 (Jr.): Recorded an 8-11 record after missing the first half of the season due to an ankle injury ... made his season debut on Dec. 29 at the Southern Scuffle ... although he did not place, he put together a 2-2 record in what is one of the most competitive tournaments on Navy's ledger ... placed second at the All-Academy Championship where he upset top-seeded and 11th-ranked Cole VonOhlen in the opening round, 6-5 ... was tripped up by Army's Casey Thome in the finals bout ... defeated Princeton's Zachary Bintliff by way of an 8-1 decision to claim seventh at the EIWA Championship ... struggled in dual action where he posted a 1-6 record ... scored his lone dual victory of the season by defeating Liberty's Seth Hicks, 6-3 ... gave sixth-ranked Zack Bailey of Oklahoma a battle in Norman with Haislip coming up just short, 6-4.
• 2009-10 (So.): Turned in a 6-5 record, including a win over East Stroudsburg's Adam Hluschak in his first-collegiate dual ... though he did not place, he saw action at the Eastern Michigan Open (133), the Nittany Lion Open (141) and the Southern Scuffle (141).
• 2008-09 (Fr.): Competed in four tournaments and placed in a pair of them ... after winning the first four matches of his career, he dropped a 7-6 decision to teammate Collin Leadbeter in the championship match of the Central New Jersey Open ... wrestling in his home state, he followed up with a fourth-place finish at the West Virginia Open ... also competed in the Navy Classic and Nittany Lion Open ... carded his first collegiate win by way of fall over Nassau Community College's Guillermo Dominguez.
• High School: A 2007 graduate of Musselman High School, Haislip attended the Naval Academy Prep School during the 2007-08 academic year ... a four-year wrestling letterwinner, he was a three-time state champion who amassed a 169-7 record during his championship run ... recipient of the 2007 Robert Dutton Award given to the state's top wrestler ... also the state recipient of the 2007 Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award ... awarded annually since 1996, the award is given to high school seniors who demonstrate excellence in wrestling, scholastic achievement, character, citizenship and community service ... placed second at the 2008 NCWA National Championships while at NAPS ... was a member of Student Council at Musselman High and was involved with Habitat for Humanity.
• Personal: Son of Ken and Julie Haislip ... majoring in Oceanography.
