McCaffrey in 2010-11 (Jr.): Produced a combined 11-3 record at the Navy Classic and the Nittany Lion Open ... lost his second bout of the day at the Navy Classic before fighting his way back to take third place by way of a fall over Bloomsburg's Nick Wilcox ... four of his five wins at the Navy Classic were by pinfall ... placed seventh at the Nittany Lion Open, where he turned in a 6-2 record ... three of his six wins were by fall ... won his seventh-place match via an 8-2 decision over Penn State's Samuel Sherlock ... left the team following the Nittany Lion Open.
2009-10 (So.): Amassed a 14-12 record in his sophomore season ... placed in two of the five tournaments in which he wrestled, including second-place marks at the season-opening Eastern Michigan Open and the All-Academy Championship ... lost to Michigan's Zac Stevens, 5-1, in the championship match at Eastern Michigan and dropped a 6-3 decision to Air Force's Derek Gillespie at the All-Academy Championship ... owned a 2-4 record in dual action, scoring wins over American's Thomas Williams, 9-4, and a fall against NC State's Scott Norris (2:51) ... posted a 3-1 record at the Cliff Kenn Las Vegas Invitational, was 2-2 at the Reno Tournament of Champions and was 2-2 at the Southern Scuffle.
2008-09 (Fr.): Opened his career at the Academy with a bang by winning the Eastern Michigan Open at 125 pounds, but suffered a season-ending knee injury the following weekend in a dual match against Cal State Bakersfield's Brandon Zoetewey ... finished the year with a 3-2 record.
High School: A 2007 graduate of the University of Indiana High School, McCaffrey wrestled in multiple states as a prep, including Colorado Springs where he has spent the last few years ... in 2004, he won the Junior National Championship ... as a freshman (2003-04), he won the Illinois State Championship at 103 pounds and led Montini High School (Lombard, Ill.) to the team title ... a year later, he was once against a state champion, this time wrestling for Centerville High School in Centerville, Iowa ... in March of 2005, he moved to Colorado Springs to train at the at the Olympic Training Center where he took part in senior events ... twice he was a Junior World bronze medalist, claiming recognition in the summers of 2005 and `06.
Personal: Son of Charles and Megan McCaffrey ... enlisted in the Marine Corps in January of 2008, prior to coming to the Naval Academy ... majoring in History.
