One of the most successful freshman wrestlers in recent memory ... turned in a 35-12 record in his rookie campaign, becoming only the third wrestler in school history to win 30 matches as a freshman ... his 35 wins are the second most by a Navy rookie, just two fewer than record holder Tyrone Neal who won 37 in 1998-99 ... his 35 wins set a Navy record for most single-season wins at 149 pounds, one better than John Cox who previously held the record of 34 wins in 2005-06 ... he sits tied for 12th on the Mids' single-season wins list ... placed in six of the eight tournaments in which he competed ... opened the year by winning his first four matches en route to a third-place performance at the Eastern Michigan Open ... in his first collegiate match, he pinned (1:36) Eastern Michigan's Cody Heir ... followed up by winning five of his six matches at the Navy Classic, including a 5-3 decision over Bucknell's Kevin LeValley to take third ... returned to his home state of Nevada twice in three weeks to compete at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational and the Reno Tournament of Champions ... won five of his six matches in Reno, including a 3-2 win over teammate and NCAA qualifier Spencer Manley to finish third ... turned in a 5-2 record at the Southern Scuffle where he earned a 10-5 win over Jeremy Doyle of Cal State Bakersfield to place seventh ... swept the field at the All-Academy Championship, including a 6-3 decision over Army's Casey Thome, to take first place ... posted a 4-2 record in dual action, including a 7-3 victory over Maryland's Eric Medina in his first collegiate dual ... pinned (2:21) Army's Thome in the annual Star Match to lead the Mids to their eighth straight win over the Black Knights ... posted a 5-1 record in his first EIWA Championship, placing third and earning an NCAA Championship berth ... he beat Thome for a third time, 5-2, when the two battle at the conference match ... meanwhile, Saddoris avenged his dual loss to Lehigh's Trevor Chinn by edging him 3-2 to make his way into the third-place match at the EIWA Championship ... though dropping both matches in his first NCAA Championship appearance, the opportunity to wrestle at that level will prove to be an invaluable experience ... turned in a 7-2 record to finish fourth at the ASICS University Nationals in April ... won his first four matches, including three sweeps against Justin Tortora (7-0, 2-0), Ryan Cubberly (3-0, 6-0) and Kelly Felix (1-0, 3-0) ... was stopped, however, in the quarterfinals by Maryland's Alex Krom who earned a 1-1, 2-1 decision ... regrouped and came back to win three in a row in the consolation bracket which featured a pin against Virginia's Shawn Harris to work his way back into the third-place match .. it was there that he would once again face Krom and unfortunately dropped a 1-0, 2-0 decision to place fourth.
High School: A 2006 graduate of Spring Creek High School, Saddoris attended the Naval Academy Prep School during the 2006-07 academic year ... a four-year standout wrestler, he also earned three letters as a member of the football team ... led Spring Creek to back-to-back-to-back state titles in 2004, `05 and `06 ... named the 2006 Nevada Most Valuable Wrestler of the Year ... the state recipient of the 2006 Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award ... awarded annually since 1996, the award is given to high school seniors who demonstrate excellence in wrestling, scholastic achievement, character, citizenship and community service ... garnered All-America recognition as a senior ... was the Nevada State Individual Champion from 2003-06.
