Greater Louisville Classic Results

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Senior Joshua Sink (Welcome, N.C.) paced Navy runners with a fifth-place time of 24:34.53 to lead the Midshipmen to a third-place finish out of 35 teams at the Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday morning at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer Park.

Tennessee won the race with 52 points, while Louisville placed second with 73 points and Navy landed in third at 93 points. Georgia State came in fourth and Aquinas followed in fifth to round out the top-five placing schools.

For the first time in his collegiate career, Sink covered an 8K course in less than 25 minutes. The senior, who has paced Navy in each of the past three races, shattered his pre-existing record of 25:08.17 versus Army last year at the USNA Cross Country Course.

Senior captain Ty Rose (Germantown, Tenn.) finished 21st overall with a 25:16.87 showing, while fellow senior Maksudul Ali (Clarksburg, Md.) immediately followed with a time of 25:17.32 to place 22nd.

Sophomore John Kress (Colorado Springs, Colo.) registered Navy's fourth-best time, a 25:23.83 effort to place 27th, two seconds ahead of 28th-place finisher junior Adam Craig (Commerce, Mich.). Junior Michael Niemi (Duluth, Minn.) landed 36th-overall and freshman Andrew Grant (Statham, Ga.) finished 53rd to serve as Navy placeholders.

Navy next heads to South Bend, Ind., for the Notre Dame Invitational on Friday starting at 4:15 p.m. CDT (5:15 p.m. EDT).
