Men’s Cross Country Tallies League-High 23 on Patriot League Academic Honor Roll

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – For the third year in a row, the Navy men’s cross country team recorded the most student-athletes on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, tallying 23 this season. 

To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the fall semester. 

Senior Ryan Speir, who was also named as the Patriot League Men’s Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year, posted a perfect 4.0 grade-point average in aerospace engineering to earn his fourth-straight nod on the academic honor roll.

Along with Speir, seniors Hale Bullen, sophomores Josh Hanna, Dan Helfand, Justin Hyytinen, Michael Karls, Charles Oestreich and Michael Wegner all recorded 4.0 GPAs during the fall semester. 

Seniors Sam Williams (3.67) and Mitchell Pratt (3.71) join Bullen and Speir as four-time honorees on Honor Roll.

Junior Zach Anderson (3.82) and Hanna garnered a spot for the third consecutive season. 

Freshmen Grant Birindelli (3.53), Jake Brophy (3.59), Logan Grove (3.35), Seungheon Kim (3.61) Kevin Murray (3.78) and Jake Shewbert (3.28) all qualified for the Honor Roll in their first semester.
