Kevin Murray Selected as Patriot League Runner of the Week
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – After winning the Navy Invitational this past weekend, Kevin Murray (So., Wilmington, Del.) was selected on Tuesday afternoon by the Patriot League as its M-F Athlete Male Runner of the Week.
Racing on the 8,000-meter United States Naval Academy cross country course on Saturday morning, Murray posted a personal best time for that distance at 24:36.08. Previously, his PR was a 24:38. He finished first of 47 runners in the varsity race and defeated his teammate Jake Brophy by three-plus seconds. The first non-Mid runner took third place and clocked in at 24:41.50.
On the strength of his victory and six other top-10 finishes, Navy won the team title in a field of five programs with 21 points. American finished runner-up with 45 points.
Murray and the rest of his Navy teammates will continue early season action on the road this Friday afternoon at the Delaware State Farm Run in Smyrna, Del.
