Sophomore Dan Naughton placed 23rd out of 187 runners Saturday at the Iona Invitational.

New Rochelle, N.Y. - The Navy men's cross country placed third out of 13 teams with 98 points in the Iona Invitational Saturday at Van Cortland Park in New Rochelle, N.Y.

With the placing, Navy has finished in the top three of the team standings in all four meets this season.

The Midshipmen were led by junior Ty Rose (Germantown, Tenn.), who placed 20th out of 187 runners in a time of 25:45.4. It marked the second consecutive race Rose was the top-Navy finisher, as he placed third at the Navy Invitational last Saturday.

Following Rose was junior Josh Sink (Welcome, N.C.) and sophomore Dan Naughton (Long Beach, N.Y.) in 22nd and 23rd place, respectively. Sink recorded a time of 25:46.1, while Naughton crossed the finish-line in 25:52.5.

Senior team captain Barry Carmody (Elk Grove, Calif.) was next as he finished in 30th place (26:06.1). David Taveras (Cape Coral, Fla.) rounded out Navy's top-five runners as the senior placed 33rd with a time of 26:08.9.

Host-school Iona College, who received a No. 3 ranking in the USCCCA's preseason top-25 poll, won the meet championship with 35 points. Cornell finished in second place with 59 points.

Navy will be back in action next Friday, as the Midshipmen will compete at the Great American Festival in Raleigh, N.C. The time of the race has yet to be determined.
