Maria Noucas begins her third season as a member of the Navy women's basketball coaching staff in the fall of 2011.

Noucas helped guide the Mids to the program's first Patriot League Tournament title and appearance in the NCAA Tournament during the 2010-11 season. Navy has compiled an overall record of 37-26 and a Patriot League record of 18-10 during her two seasons on The Yard.

Noucas is a 2009 graduate of Bowdoin (B.A. in sociology with a minor in education studies) where she was a four-year member of the school's basketball team. She was coached by Navy head coach Stefanie Pemper during her first three years.

The captain of the team during her senior year of 2008-09, Noucas helped lead the Polar Bears to four NCAA Tournament berths and at least a share of three NESCAC conference titles. Individually, Noucas left ranked among the school's all-time leaders in multiple statistical categories, including career three-point field goals made (sixth) and career assists (seventh).

Noucas garnered all-conference and academic all-conference laurels during her senior year and was named to the NESCAC All-Sportsmanship Team as a junior. Additionally, she received the Bowdoin Pride Award in 2008, the Bowdoin Alumnae Award in 2007 and `08 and was tabbed as the team's most improved player in 2007.

While this is her first full-time coaching position, the native of Portsmouth, N.H., served as an assistant coach for the New England Crusaders AAU program each summer from 2005-08.
