Navy returns to Annapolis for its lone home game in a five-game stretch Wednesday night when the Midshipmen play host to American in a 7 p.m. game in Alumni Hall.
The Mids enter the game after suffering its first loss of the young league season to Army on Sunday. The loss dropped Navy’s record to 2-1 in Patriot League play. Army improved to 3-0 with the win, which allowed the Black Knights to maintain pace with American.
In addition to having won each of their three league games this season, the Eagles have won 18-consecutive Patriot League regular season games dating back to the end of the 2011 campaign. The last time the Eagles lost a league regular season game was Feb. 23, 2011, when Navy posted a 63-56 victory in Alumni Hall. Two weeks later, Navy defeated American, 47-40, in the championship game of the Patriot League Tournament.
American edged Navy in both 2012 meetings between the teams. The Eagles first won a 49-44 decision in Washington, D.C., before emerging with a 55-52 victory in Annapolis. The largest margin of victory in the last five Navy vs. American games has been seven points.
