Navy will open the second half of the Patriot League season Saturday with a 2 p.m. game against Lafayette at the Kirby Sports Center in Easton, Pa. The Mids enter the weekend with a 6-1 record and hold a one-game lead in the Patriot League standings. The Leopards have won each of their last three games to raise their league mark to 3-4.
Navy posted a 62-44 victory over Lafayette when the two teams met earlier this season in Alumni Hall. The Mids went on a 23-4 run early in the first half before scoring the opening eight points of the second half to pull away from the Leopards. Alix Membreno totaled 19 points, six rebounds and five assists for the Mids.
Lafayette has won five of the last eight games in the series with Navy that have been played in Easton, with six of those games being decided by no more than five points. Navy recorded a 60-55 victory over the Leopards last season at the Kirby Sports Center, but the Mids have not posted consecutive victories in the venue since winning three in a row from 2002-04.
