For Starters
* Maile Shimoda, second in Navy history with 431 career assists, enters Wednesday's game needing 10 points to become the 12th player in Navy history to score 1,000 career points.
* Adrienne Roseti, fourth all-time at Navy with 728 rebounds, needs 23 points to reach 1,000 for her career.
* If both Roseti and Shimoda reach the 1,000-point mark, they would join with teammate Courtney Davidson (1,745 points) to become the first class in Navy history to have three 1,000-point scorers.
* American will be trying for its first season sweep of Navy since joining the Patriot League. In each of the two previous seasons, the teams have split the pair of meetings.
* Wednesday's game marks the one-year anniversary of Navy's 75-72 double overtime victory over the Eagles in Alumni Hall.

A Look Ahead -- Saturday, Feb. 14
Navy will play host to Bucknell Saturday afternoon in a 1 p.m. game in Alumni Hall. The Mids and the Bison both enter their respective midweek games (the Bison play host to Lehigh Tuesday night) with a 3-5 record and tied for sixth place in the Patriot League.

Bucknell won the first meeting of the season against Navy, 72-63, J17 in Lewisburg. The two teams went into halftime tied at 31-31, but the Bison went on an early second-half run to take a 41-33 lead. Navy would close to 50-46, but Bucknell put the game out of reach with a 14-6 run.

Nikki Curtis led Navy with 14 points and eight rebounds, while Desire Almind paced the Bison with 18 points, 14 of them coming at the free throw line.

Tipping Off
After seeing its three-game winning streak come to a close Saturday, the Navy women's basketball team will make the short drive to Washington, D.C., Wednesday for a 7 p.m. game against American. The contest can be heard live on WNAV-AM 1430 starting at 6:45 p.m.

Navy Review
Navy opened the second half of the Patriot League season Saturday with a 77-53 loss to Lehigh in Alumni Hall. The Mids fell behind early as the Mountain Hawks shot over 60 percent from the first in building a 39-27 halftime lead.

Adrienne Roseti led Navy in scoring with 11 points, with Courtney Davidson adding nine points and a team-high six rebounds.

American Preview
American enters Wednesday's game with a 5-3 record and in a tie for third place in the Patriot League. The Eagles, who have posted a 3-1 league home record, are led by Chanel Hunt with 10.7 points and 7.0 rebounds a game.

Last Meeting
It was a defensive struggle the last time Navy and American met, Jan. 13 in Alumni Hall. The Mids held a 16-13 halftime lead, but shot just 26 percent after halftime and turned the ball over 18 more times than the Eagles did in the game as American pulled away with a 51-42 win.

Maile Shimoda led Navy with 10 points.

Navy-American Series
American leads the series with Navy, 11-7, and has won three of the five games against the Mids since joining the Patriot League. Navy is just 1-7 in all-time games played against the Eagles in Washington, D.C.

Slow Starts ... Fast Finishes
Navy struggled at the start of the Patriot League season for the third-straight year. The Mids have recovered strongly in each of the past two seasons, however.

Year Started Finished Overall
2001-02 0-4 5-5 5-9
2002-03 0-4 6-4 6-8

Navy's 1,000-Point Scorers
Maile Shimoda and Adrienne Roseti are both closing in on their 1,000th career point. Only 11 Mids have scored 1,000 points in their careers.

If both Shimoda and Roseti reach 1,000 points by season's end, it would mark the first time in Navy history three players from one class have reached the milestone.

First 30-30 Club Member
Courtney Davidson became the first player in Navy history to record 30 or more points in back-to-back games when she tallied 31 J31 against Army and 30 F1 against Lafayette.

After playing the first 102 games of her career with a career-high of 28 points, the senior shooting guard who has scored over 1,700 points in her career, set a career high with the 31 points against Army.

Davidson was 10-of-18 from the field against the Black Knights, as well as 15-of-16 from the foul line. She scored Navy's final-12 points of the game and was 6-of-6 from the foul line over the final minute of play. The 31 points was also an Army-Navy single-game record.

She bounced right back less than 48 hours later to score 30 points against the Leopards. Davidson hit three-point field goals on each of Navy's opening-three possessions of the game and finished the game with eight triples, an Alumni Hall record, one shy of the Navy and Patriot League record and the fourth-most in a game in the NCAA this season.

On the weekend, Davidson was shot 51.4-percent from the field, 43.4-percent from behind the three-point line and drilled 17-of-18 free throws, while also averaging 4.0 rebounds a game.

Shimoda Also Sets Standards
Davidson wasn't the only Mid to etch her name into the record books on the weekend. Point guard Maile Shimoda handed out 12 assists F1 against Lafayette, a new Alumni Hall record and the most assists by a Navy player in a Patriot League game. The 12 helpers also tied her for the fourth-most assists in any game by a Mid.

Courtney Davidson
The all-time Navy and Patriot League record holder with 225 career three-point field goals, Courtney Davidson leads Navy and is ranked among the top scorers in the league with 18.0 points per game, while leading Navy with 42 steals and leading the league with 2.4 three-point field goals made a game. She also stands second on the squad with 4.6 rebounds a game. She has scored 10 or more points in 19 games, with 11 games of 20 or more points.

Davidson had one of the finest back-to-back games in Navy history J31-F1 against Army and Lafayette, becoming the first player in Navy history to total 30 or more points in back-to-back games when she tallied a career-high and Army-Navy record 31 against Army, followed by an eight three-point field goal, 30-point outing vs. the Leopards.

The senior shooting guard has moved into second place on Navy's career scoring chart, having tallied 1,745 career points, and ranks 15th with 181 career assists. She has set the Navy record with 41 career games with at least 20 points, and is also tied for the Navy record with 88 games of 10 or more points.

The Navy record holder with a career free throw percentage of 83.9-percent, Davidson is in fourth place at Navy with 406 free throws made, as well as eighth with 149 career steals.

Davidson Excels Against the Best
Davidson played well in both outings against nationally-ranked teams in Hawaii. She totaled 15 points against No. 2 Texas, then scored 18 of her 21 points against No. 18 Arizona in the second half. Davidson also tallied five rebounds and four steals against the Wildcats. She closed the weekend by scoring 11 points and hauling in a Navy-high seven rebounds against Syracuse.

"Courtney just took over the game in the second half. She put the team on her back and brought Navy back into the game. She never gave up. She is a very versatile player who wanted the ball in her hands."
-- Arizona head coach Joan Bonvicini.

"I have seen a lot of good guards this year and Courtney is as good as I have seen. She defends well, runs the floor, is an outstanding thinker on the floor, has a quick release and can really stroke the outside jumper. We were watching film of her and a lot of times she would make a play and I would just go, 'Oh my.' She could play at a lot of places."
-- Seton Hall head coach Phyllis Mangina
