Jade Geif Earns Navy, Patriot League Weekly Honor
Feb. 12, 2013
ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Navy women's basketball player Jade Geif (Jr., Lakeville, Minn.) garnered a pair of accolades on Monday. She first was tabbed as the Navy Athlete of the Week Presented by Rolls Royce, then was selected as the Patriot League Anaconda Player of the Week. This week marked the second time in three weeks and the third time this season in which Geif has received both laurels.
Geif tallied 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 steals during Navy's 60-52 overtime victory at Lafayette on Feb. 9. She posted 15 of her points after halftime and was especially effective in the overtime period. Geif connected on all three of her field goal attempts and all but one of her four free throw attempts to accrue seven of Navy's 12 points in the extra session, while also contributing a pair of rebounds and one steal in the five minutes of play.
Geif now joins Adria Schneck as the lone players in Navy's 22-year membership in the Patriot League to earn the league's player-of-the-week nod three times in a single season. Scheck picked up a trip of weekly certificates during the 1995-96 season.
Navy will next play host to Holy Cross Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
