LAFAYETTE 64, NAVY 59 (Feb. 11, Easton, Pa.)

Maile Shimoda scored a game-high 19 points for the Midshipmen but it was not enough as Navy dropped a 64-59 decision to Lafayette, Sunday afternoon in Easton, Pa.

The score was close throughout the game as neither team held more than a six-point advantage during the contest. Navy trailed, 54-53, with 3:12 remaining on a three-point field goal from Courtney Davidson, and took the lead, 59-58, on a three-pointer from Shimoda with 2:20 to play in the game, but the Mids were held scoreless down the stretch.

Navy's defense held Lafayette to just a pair of field goals in the final six minutes of the game, but the Leopards made eight free throws in that time for the victory.

Shimoda hit a Navy season-high five three-point field goals on her way to scoring honors in the contest, but she was the lone Mid to score in double figures on the day. Navy was outrebounded, 42-36, and made just 12-of-24 free throws in the game.

Four players scored in double figures to help lead Holy Cross to a 78-63 victory over Navy, Jan. 20 at the Hart Center in Worcester, Mass.

The game was knotted at 19-19 with just over seven minutes left in the first half when the Crusaders scored 11-straight and 18 of the next 21 points to take a 37-22 lead with one minute to play before halftime. After Holy Cross took a 37-25 lead into halftime, the Crusaders stretched their lead to 16 points, 41-25, less than one minute into the second half.

The Mids slowly fought their way back into the game, eventually pulling to within seven points, 50-43, on a three-point field goal by Courtney Davidson with 14 minutes to play in the game. After the two teams traded several baskets, Davidson again drilled a three-pointer to close the gap to six points, 52-46, with 11:36 left in the game. Navy missed its next three shots from the field while Holy Cross quickly built a 61-47 lead with 10 minutes to play.

Once again, Navy cut the lead down to single digits on a three-point field goal by Maile Shimoda which made the score 70-61, but the Mids could get no closer as the Crusaders pulled away down the stretch for the victory.
