The Patriot League Presidents’ Cup race sets up for an exciting conclusion in the spring, as Lehigh and Navy are tied for the top spot with 67.25 points and Bucknell, winner of the last six overall trophies, sits less than two points behind the leaders with 10 championships remaining.

The top three teams won all of the Patriot League titles in the winter. Navy swept the men and women’s swimming and diving championships and also picked up its second consecutive crown in women’s basketball, and now has five titles in the 2011-12 season. Bucknell swept the men and women’s indoor track and field championships, with Lehigh winning it all in men’s basketball for the second time in the last three years.

In addition to sharing the overall lead, Lehigh and Navy are atop the men and women’s standings, respectively. The Mountain Hawks have 35.25 points to lead the men’s race, while the Mids have tallied 37.5 points in women’s sports. Both schools are ahead of second-place Bucknell in the standings.

Bucknell has 65.5 points in the overall Presidents’ Cup race to come within 1.75 of the Mids and Mountain Hawks. The Bison are followed by American and Colgate, who are tied for fourth place with 54 points and just ahead of Army with 53.25. Lafayette (41.75) and Holy Cross (30.75) round out the overall standings.

Lehigh’s lead over Bucknell in the men’s race is just under four points, as the Bison come in second with 31.5 through the winter. Navy (29.75) is in third place and followed in order by American (26.25), Army (22.75), Colgate (20.25), Lafayette (18.75) and Holy Cross (12.25).

The Bison are slightly closer in the women’s race, as their total of 34 points is 3.5 behind first-place Navy. Colgate (33.75), Lehigh (32) and Army (30.75) are in striking distance and ahead of American (27.75), Lafayette (23) and Holy Cross (18.5)

The Patriot League sponsors six sports during the winter season, with men and women’s basketball, men and women’s swimming and diving and men and women’s indoor track and field. Each Patriot League member participates in all six of the winter sports.

Patriot League Presidents' Cup points are awarded based on a team's performance in the regular season and postseason Patriot League standings. In cross country, football, golf, rowing, swimming and diving and track and field, the points are awarded on the final team standing at the Championship.

Bucknell took home its 17th Patriot League Presidents' Cup at the conclusion of the 2010-11 season. Army is the only other team in League history to win the cup, taking home four trophies (1994, 1995, 1997, 2005). Bucknell also claimed its 17th women's title last season and eighth on the men’s side.
