ANNAPOLIS, Md. –– For the second week in a row, Sarita Condie (Sr., Lovelock, Nev.) from the women’s basketball team has been named as the Naval Academy Athletic Association Athlete of the Week.

Condie paced the Mids with averages of 21.5 points and 8.5 rebounds a game in the team’s two WNIT games last week.

She first scored a team-high 17 points and grabbed a career-best nine boards to share the team rebounding honors during Navy’s first round game at George Washington. The Mids overcame a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit to defeat the Colonials, 61-51 in overtime, and win the first national post-season tournament game in program history. The victory also was just the second by a Patriot League team in the 20-year history of the tournament.

Two days later, Condie tied her career high –– established set nine days earlier –– with a 26-point outburst in Navy’s 75-64 loss at Virginia Tech in the second round of the WNIT. She shot 60 percent from the field (9-15), 42.9 percent from three-point range (3-7) –– which included a half-court basket at the end of the third quarter –– and made all five of her free throw attempts against the Hokies. She also snared a team-high eight boards in the game.

Condie averaged 18.8 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.2 three-point field goals made a game, and shot 47.9 percent from the field (34-71), 53.3% from three-point land (16-30) and 76.9 percent from the foul line (10-13) in Navy’s five post-season tournament games.
