DALLAS, Texas -- Navy's Kara Pollinger (Sr., Fort Gay, W.Va.) has been selected to take part in the Buick Women's Three-Point Championship as part of the 26th Annual State Farm College Slam Dunk and Three-Point Championship Thursday in Dallas, Texas.
The event will be held at Moody Colisuem on the campus of Southern Methodist University in conjunction with the men's Final Four. It will begin at 9 p.m. EDT and air live on ESPN.
Pollinger currently ranks 10th nationally this season in three-point field goal percentage (43.7%) and 37th in three-point field goals made a game (2.72 fgm). The two-time team captain who earned First-Team All-Patriot League laurels this season set a Navy record this year by making 87 triples -- also tied for sixth in Patriot League history -- while her career total of 203 treys stands fourth at Navy and 11th in league history. She also led the Mids in both scoring (13.3 ppg) and assists (139).
Pollinger will be one of eight competitors in the women's championship. The complete list of players taking part in the event has yet to be finalized, but Tricia Liston (Duke), Courtney Moses (Purdue), Myisha Goodwin-Coleman (North Carolina State), Keena Mays (SMU) and Jordan Hooper (Nebraska) all have accepted invitations to compete.
This is the second time a Navy women's basketball player has been invited to compete in the three-point championship. Courtney Davidson took part in the 2004 edition of the event when it was held in San Antonio, Texas.
