Geif Named League Player of the Week
Nov. 26, 2012
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - The Patriot League office announced Monday that Navy's Jade Geif (Jr., Lakeville, Minn.) has been named as this week's Patriot League Anaconda Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
Geif garnered her accolade after recording a double-double in each of Navy's three games last week. She began the week by posting 13 points and 10 rebounds, to go along with a pair of assists and two steals, in Navy's 71-60 victory over Loyola. The middle game of the three saw her score 17 points on 5 of 7 shooting from the field and grab 12 caroms in a 66-63 overtime loss to UC Davis on the opening day of the Houston Baptist Husky Classic. The following day, Geif made 4 of 6 attempts from the floor in tallying 12 points, 10 rebounds and a game-high five assists in Navy's 72-48 win over Jackson State.
She averaged 14.0 points and 10.7 rebounds a game on the week, while shooting 60 percent from the field. Geif also surpassed the 700-point plateau in her career last week. She has now totaled 735 points in 70 career games, as well as 13 career double-doubles.
This is the first player-of-the-week accolade in Geif's career, though she was selected as the league's rookie of the week twice two seasons ago.
Navy will play later this evening at Air Force in a 9 p.m. EST game in Colorado Springs, Colo.
