2009 Navy Women's Basketball Summer

Angela Myers

What did you do this summer?
"During leave I was home and hung out with my friends. We had all sorts of fun including some pool parties! Almost everyday I went to open gym at the University of Texas-San Antonio and I also spent some time tubing. As a junior your summer training is called PROTRAMID. It is a week each of submarines, aviation, Marines and ships in San Diego, CA. During Marine week I had to do a 5 mile hike with full gear; it was a total of about 40 lbs! We hiked to a training facility where we got to throw grenades and shoot paintball guns at targets. Aviation week is when I got to fly a training jet called a T-34. Great time! I got a little sick though. With my time off in San Diego I would go tanning on one of the many beautiful beaches. I tried to body surf too, but the waves got the best of that battle."

What was your favorite part?
"My favorite part of PROTRAMID was definitely Marine week. We went to a museum and they had old military cars and ships that were of no use anymore and we got to play on them!"
