Links associated with this release: Navy's women's crew team will compete in the Eastern Association of Women's Rowing Colleges Regatta, Sunday on the Cooper River in Camden, N.J. Trial heats will be raced in the morning, with finals to follow in the afternoon. This will be Navy's second trip to the Cooper River this season and the Mids are hoping for as much success this weekend as they had on their first visit. Navy's first and second varsity and second novice boats posted a combined 15-0 record in the Knecht Cup, held March 31 in Camden. Each of Navy's boats have improved since the start of the season. Navy's first varsity boat had an 0-4 record after the first weekend of racing, but has since posted a 9-7 mark and enters the weekend ranked 14th in the EAWRC. Navy's second varsity team has just a pair of losses against 19 opponents this year and is ranked ninth in the league. The varsity four boat has defeated its last five opponents and is ranked sixth . Navy's first novice boat is ranked 13th, while the second novice team is ranked ninth. "This will be a very difficult, but very exciting weekend for us," said head coach Mike Hughes. "Our league is the toughest in the nation, so just advancing to the finals is considered an accomplishment for any team. At the same time, we are excited about our chances and the opportunities we have ahead of us to advance to the finals and, hopefully, the NCAAs. Our fate for the NCAAs will be in our own hands. "I think it is safe to say we have the most talented women's crew team in Navy history. Over the last few weeks of practice our boats have continued to not only move very well, but improve on their times. We are looking forward to seeing what we can accomplish this weekend."
